Hello I'm Ruth, I'm the support person and driver who would like to work with you or your loved one.

My background employment is in customer service, disability, aged care and community service sectors. I hold certificates in disability, first aid and an accreditation to drive a commercial passenger vehicle combined with police checks.

Through observation during my late husband’s specialist appointments and over many years working in the community I observed a much-needed gap for people living in regional Victoria with age or health related disabilities.

Many have limited transport or family support and the public transport system is at times not user-friendly for individual needs or near non-existent due to distance of the family home, when outside our main township.

In late 2018 I decided to go on a driving holiday to Broken Hill. A week before my journey, a widow I casually knew mentioned she had always wanted to take a trip there. Since losing her husband she felt she would now never get the chance.

Then a month later, a mother with an adult disabled daughter, living in another part of the state wanted to visit her daughter. However, she was unable to due to her own transport issues.

I assisted both ladies to accomplish their wishes as part of my research into creating this business.

These two road trips, plus surveys conducted  I was able to gather further evidence a supported transport link was what many families were looking for.

This is how and why

Companion Drives and Holidays was born!

I have a caring nature and believe support and guidance can assist a person to maintain their own independence. I enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds and driving them throughout our beautiful landscape.

I would be honoured to assist you or your loved one, to accomplish your wishes of maintaining independence.

Do you have a journey you wish to go on?
